Incredible fan art created by artist Megan Huang gives DC’s Barbara Gordon, also known as Batgirl, a functional and badass costume upgrade.
Iconic DC comics character Barbara Gordon, better known as Batgirl, gets a striking costume upgrade in new art created by a fan.
Artist Megan Huang shared the incredible sketch of Batgirl, who is clad in a traditional black and purple uniform with a sleek twist, on her Twitter account. “Batgirl. Who needs a cape when you have a jacket doubling as a cape? Well, I thought it was a cool idea…” Huang’s caption reads. Her reinvention of Batgirl’s look incorporates the hero’s classic color scheme, utility belt and cowl, while it also adds a stylish jacket (complete with upturned collar) and fingerless gloves into the mix.
Barbara Gordon: An Iconic DC Character
Created by William Dozier, Julius Schwartz, Gardner Fox and Carmine Infantino, Barbara Gordon’s Batgirl first appeared in 1967’s Detective Comics #359. The character has since undergone various origin stories, suffered a near-fatal gunshot wound at the hands of the Joker, assumed the mantle of Oracle, returned to the field as Batgirl, and welcomed her best friend and the first major transgender character, Alysia Yeoh, into the DC Universe.
