Writer and psychotherapist MJ Corey uses the handle Kardashian Kolloquium on TikTok and Instagram, where she provides a deep analysis of the famous family.

Corey said that Kim’s recent fashion choices have caught her eye for an “interesting, but also really obvious” reason.

In a video, Corey said that Kim’s spent the last several years adding more “Barbie pink” pieces to her clothing rotation.

That’s intentional, Corey said, because the real-life mogul is working to invoke the iconic doll’s style.

She cited an essay about Barbie by Dawn Heinecken, and explained that reading the work helped her make a connection between the fashion icons.

According to Heinecken, Barbie’s creator, Ruth Handler, deliberately made Barbie’s face “blank and bland” to encourage children to project their imaginations and “fill in the blank.”

“We can actually see a similar effect with Kim’s super-symmetrical, silhouette-friendly face and body,” Corey said.
