The year 2000 was a monumental year in the career of Venus Williams. She had made it to her maiden final at the Wimbledon Championships and was on course to win the title. However, in the summit clash, she was up against Lindsay Davenport, the second seed. Venus caused a massive upset as she defeated Davenport in straight sets to clinch her first Grand Slam title.
