Lenny Kravitz’s fashion icon status is getting the recognition it deserves. On Nov. 7, the Council of Fashion Designers of America will honor the Let Love Rule artist with the esteemed Fashion Icon Award at the 2022 ceremony. He’s joining a long line of style stars including past winners, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Zendaya, Pharrell Williams and more.

Since he burst onto the music scene in 1989, the Grammy winner has garnered a reputation for his funky, eclectic style identity. With his unbuttoned, plunging tops, skin-tight bell-bottom trousers, metallic jumpsuits, bug-eyed sunglasses, and fringe and feathers galore, Kravitz incorporated glam rock aesthetics with a bohemian flair. The Saint Laurent ambassador was even cast as the fashion designer Cinna in the Hunger Games franchise.

Kravitz’s androgynous, stage-worthy ensembles have placed him among the highest echelons of rock star style, among the likes of David Bowie, Prince, Jimi Hendrix and Mick Jagger.
