Marvel’s Shang-Chi is getting a brand-new costume and look that gives the popular hero a demonic new form. As part of the upcoming Demonized variant covers that will release from Marvel Comics in the next few months, Shang-Chi is among the heroes whose current costume and look are getting a dark makeover. In the art from Philip Tan, Shang-Chi becomes nearly unrecognizable as sinister forces take the hero over.
Since debuting in Special Marvel Edition #15 by Steve Englehart and Jim Starlin from Marvel Comics in 1973, Shang-Chi has sported relatively simple costumes compared to his fellow heroes. From wearing a red and gold karate-inspired look in his earliest appearances, a red and black bodysuit he wore while joining the Avengers, to his current costume, where he wears a red and green costume accented with golden dragon scales, Shang-Chi has gone through several successful and unsuccessful makeovers.
