A behind-the-scenes video from the set of The CW’s The Flash reveals an extended look at the suit Batwoman alum Javicia Leslie will wear as the villainous Batman/Flash hybrid known as the Red Death.
Shared to YouTube by user Canadagraphs, the video sees Leslie on the set of The Flash Season 9 opposite co-stars Grant Gustin and Paul Anthony. The eight-minute video features numerous clips of Leslie in action as Red Death, not to mention a number of still images.
Who Is the Red Death?
Created by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo, the Red Death operates within the Dark Multiverse, first appearing in 2017’s Dark Days: The Casting #1 as part of the Dark Nights: Metal event. The Red Death’s origin story was told as part of the same event later that year in Batman: The Red Death #1 by Joshua Williamson and Carmine Di Giandomenico.
Much like his main DC Universe counterpart, the Bruce Wayne/Batman of Earth -52 fought crime in Gotham City alongside the Robins. After all of his sidekicks died, however, Bruce grew increasingly radical in his quest to prevent crimes he wasn’t fast enough to stop in the past. He eventually set his sights on the Flash, believing he could use the Speed Force better than Earth -52’s Barry Allen ever could.
