With the hashtag #weirdgirlaesthetic boasting over 868 thousand views alone, the eclectic and eccentric style rose to prominence earlier this year thanks to it’s position as the antithesis to the fixation the fashion set had over “cores”.

The “weird girl aesthetic” was poised to be the solution to the chokehold these fast-moving trends had over the cultural zeitgeist.

Both pre and post pandemic, we had been used to a prescribed notion of dressing, one that saw ourselves defined by a “three word method” and labels to determine what’s out and in, and under no circumstances should the twain meet.
