Despite being quite the polarizing figure nowadays within AEW and the online wrestling community, Britt Baker’s rise up the AEW Women’s Division was an extremely organic one following her heel turn in the first half of 2020. Starting as a generic babyface in the company, her heel turn would let Baker shine as a great heel for the division.
2021 would see Baker deliver one of the best women’s matches of that year, a Lights Out Match against Thunder Rosa, before defeating Hikaru Shida to become the AEW Women’s Champion. Baker would also headline the first-ever AEW Grand Slam, as she and Ruby Soho would main event Arthur Ashe for the AEW Women’s Championship.
